It all began with a dreaded 7 hr car ride to Niagra Falls. Just me, Tricia (the introvert) and the 3 yr old, Erin (the extrovert). I knew I needed to arm myself with toys in the back that would keep that girl's gears going while her body was snuggly strapped in one position. Thinking back to my childhood, I knew exactly what could help. With
magnets and a few small toys, me, Erin and that lap desk set out on a journey to see "The Big Waterfall." It was during that trip I witnessed how easily a child could still use their imagination while their bodies were contained.
Us parents value pretend and creative play, however, we often don't realize just how much our child is using electronics. We enjoy the freedom of getting a few things done while little Emily is playing an educational game on the iPad. Before we know it, it's dinner time and we see just how deep into the red that iPad's battery is. Upon taking it away, we get a child that's begging to make that fort in the living room you just cleaned. We then feel guilty for not giving them the chance at pretend play when they asked earlier.
We want to help you empower your kids and celebrate the valuable psychological and emotional steps your child makes in development beyond just the physical ones. At KidEssence, we help parents provide an environment for their children that stimulates learning through play while building their self-esteem.
Our toys promote creative, imaginative, unplugged play. Our custom dolls, promote imaginative play, build self-confidence and offers security to a child. They have a doll that looks like them and speaks specifically to them. Our travel chalkboards and lap desks allow a child to create in an environment that may have them physically contained. But their imagination does not have to be contained. Our stuffed animals and loveys- in the same manner as our dolls- they are the lion and fox that come to life at the zoo in the living room. Our baby blankets turn into tents for fort building, capes for flying, and make dens for hideaways, they provide comfort from the shadow in the dark room.
We believe that children learn best through play. We want to live in a world where every child is empowered through the skills they discover while their imagination runs wild. We know that open play helps children learn about themselves and the world and, work through new life issues, while cultivating social and emotional intelligence. We refuse to promote opportunities for a child to be limited in their ability to create and imagine. Join us and empower your little one while they learn to live, love and laugh through play!
